Rumba Cubana ( All Levels)
Guaguanco,Yambu & Columbia for leaders and followers.
Service Description
This course is design for all level of dancers. **Rumba Class Course – Roots of Cuban Dance** Rumba is one of Cuba’s most important cultural expressions. Born in Cuba from the fusion of African traditions brought by enslaved people and Spanish influences, rumba developed in working-class neighborhoods as a form of celebration, storytelling, resistance, and community. It is danced, sung, and played with deep emotion, rhythm, and connection to Cuban history. **Rumba Cubana** (sometimes referred to as *Yuma Cubana* when shared beyond Cuba) is an umbrella term that includes three traditional styles: **Yambú, Guaguancó, and Columbia**. In this course, we will study all three rhythms. * **Yambú** is elegant and playful, often danced with smooth, grounded movements. * **Guaguancó** is the most popular style, full of dialogue, flirtation, and rhythmic precision. * **Columbia** is fast, energetic, and traditionally danced solo, highlighting agility, strength, and musical mastery. This **progressive course is open to all dance levels**, from beginners to advanced dancers. Our goal is to learn the **pure Cuban rules, rhythms, and movement principles** of rumba, which are essential for developing an authentic personal style. Understanding rumba deeply will strongly influence the way we dance **Salsa Cubana**, improving musicality, body movement, and cultural awareness. Throughout the course, we will **alternate between Yambú, Guaguancó, and Columbia**, allowing students to understand their differences, connections, and shared roots. Being part of this class means connecting with the foundation of Cuban dance and honoring the traditions that shape everything we dance today. We invite **dancers of all levels** to join this journey, explore the roots of Cuban movement, and **fall in love with Cuban culture, rhythm, and soul** through rumba.
